Our Mission Statement
We strive to radiate the presence of Jesus Christ in our parish and community and
invite others to join us on the journey.
We are a vibrant multi-cultural faith community located in Northwest Detroit. We simply want to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to reach out with his compassion and healing to all, especially to those who live in Northwest Detroit, who are seeking full life.
Our community is known for its hospitality and faith-filled worship. Twenty years ago we helped set up New Hope Housing and Community Development Corporation. Since then New Hope has renovated twenty abandoned homes and built another twenty and sold all of them to first time homebuyers. Recently New Hope has assisted 250 home owners who were facing foreclosure.
In order to respond to the lack of youth activities in the neighborhood, members of Corpus Christi joined other community leaders to form Northwest Detroit Youth Coalition. In the ten years since its inception, NWDYC now serves an average of 300 youth a year through such activities as two summer month-long day camps, a soccer league, a T Ball league, a money management program and family opportunities to visit such places as The Henry Ford.
We also do an extensive outreach to those in need of food, help with utilities or in need of other assistance through our Christian Service Coordinator and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
One of the members of our community who is a physician born in Haiti began an outreach to her country which has blossomed into another non-profit called Haiti Outreach Mission which has twelve churches as members. They have focused on the town of Mirebalais forty miles outside of Port a Prince, the capital. The group has begun a medical clinic, built an orphanage and helped sponsor over 1,000 children in a Catholic and Anglican schools.
We find our strength for our outreach and for renewing our family life in prayer, especially the Eucharist. Our Catholic tradition is a great source of strength and challenge. I invite you to look through our web site and join us any time for prayer or for one of our many outreach efforts.
