It is a joy to work in evangelization! How can you beat a ministry whose name simply means “Good News”? It’s also so neat to work in an ancient ministry started by Jesus and carried on by the Apostles and others for 2000 years.
The Corpus Christi Evangelization Committee has two marching orders: evangelize the evangelizers (our fellow parish members!) and go out to evangelize others. This direction comes all the way from Jesus and has been reinforced in the Church since Vatican II back in 1965. The recent popes have given it more energy and direction. Then, in 2016, our Archbishop Alan Vigneron convened Synod 16 so our diocese could discern how to proceed with evangelization. That discernment resulted in the archbishop’s publishing of “Unleash the Gospel” on the Vigil of Pentecost in 2017.
Since that time, we have gotten even more familiar with evangelization from the movement named after the three-step evangelization efforts: Encounter – Grow – Witness!
Encountering the Lord, meeting the Lord, paying attention to the Lord.
Growing in that relationship with the Lord through prayer and study.
Witnessing to others about how the Lord has impacted our very lives.
