They are praying together and working together to create the “Priests’ Covenant” which is required by the AOD Family “Playbook”. Page 10 of that document tells us the following about that covenant.
“The Covenant will cover both interpersonal communion and ministerial relationships among the priests of a Family. The interpersonal communion portion of the Covenant will document specific agreements among the priests and will include such things as living arrangements, times for praying together, times for eating together, etc. The interparish portion of the Covenant will detail the ministerial relationships among the priests to best serve all the parishes in the Family.
This will include discussion in the areas of Worship, Discipleship Formation, Engagement, Family Ministries, Evangelical Charity and Schools. Consideration will be given to ministries where the priests of the Family have a desire to serve and the gifts and talents to flourish.”
3. Current FOP Efforts The priests of our Family, led by Fr. Jaime Hinojos, are currently interviewing for the Mission Support Director position for our Family. The position is effectively the chief financial officer/director of operations for the entire family. Internal candidates are being identified and interviewed. Your prayers for our parish and for our Family of Parishes are greatly appreciated!
B. Today’s Special Items
4. This Week’s Fr. Patrick’s Holy Homework Prayerfully read The Bread of Life Discourse in John 6:22-71 this week. A key verse is 63, wherein Jesus uses an idiom of His day (regarding the limitations of human understanding in the flesh) when He says, “it is the spirit that gives life while the flesh is of no avail, the words I have spoke to you are spirit and life.” Quite literally, Jesus is saying that the words He is speaking about His flesh being true food and His blood being true drink can’t be understood by mere human reasoning (the flesh is of no avail). It requires the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
This chapter is key to the understanding of the Catholic doctrine on the Real Presence – that Holy Communion truly is the body and blood of Jesus. Prayerfully read The Bread of Life Discourse and enjoy studying with Jesus!

New Heart still beating too slowly to let me go home or titrate to the first set of drug meds I'll need to fight rejection. But I'm close. Sleeping well.
My cardiac output with my new heart is already 3 times my native heart. Modern medicine is a marvel! God is good!
Keep prayers coming and pray for my healthcare team. They're all in!
6. Next Weekend: Reading the WHOLE Bible!
At the Masses next weekend, we will hear a brief announcement on a Bible study program, have a chance to speak with people who have completed the program in the past, and have a chance to consider getting that experience ourselves.
The organization is called “Catholic Bible School – Michigan” and it offers a four-year program that covers EVERY book of the Bible. Several people at Corpus Christi have already taken the course and relish the learning experience ever so much!
C. Reminders
7. Renewal of the Mind: Fr. Patrick’s 60-second daily videos and 30-minute weekly Radio Broadcasts Fr. Patrick’s daily video draws guidance for the day from the Mass Scriptures of the day. The message is there … 60 seconds …POW! The newer item is the 30-minute weekly audio broadcast. It can be reached at any time of day or night, any day of the week.
8. “Considering Catholicism?” Sundays, at 9:30am This year’s “Considering Catholicism?” is on Sundays at 9:30am in the Rainbow Room.
How about that? Do you possibly know someone wondering about their faith life and looking for a church? Maybe they went to church in their youth. Maybe they had no faith life. Maybe they are searching. Maybe they are simply not happy with where they are in their life. Our Lord could be the one who can satisfy their needs, their longings, their cares. Yes, maybe they are considering about where to go and how to get there.
Please give some “prayerful discernment” to your possibly inviting a family member, a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor to our sessions that will be about one hour per week. There will be time for group sessions and for individual, personal meetings. Dcn Paul and Jeff Smale are leading the sessions. Questions? Feel free to give Dcn Paul a call at 248.891.9387 or an email at [email protected].
9. WEEEEE’RE BAAAAACK!!!!!! August & September Events It’s been a very long time, but we’re beyond pleased to say that events are back at Corpus Christi. It will be a blessing to share prayer, food and fellowship with one another again. Please save the following dates:
PARISH CELEBRATION: SUNDAY, AUGUST 22 The day will begin with an 11 AM Outdoor Mass under a spacious tent (no 9 AM Mass that day) celebrating Fr. Don’s, now, 51st Anniversary of Holy Ordination. Please bring your own lawn chairs and, if you can, put an extra one in the trunk to share. Mass will be followed by an Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social featuring delicious Guernsey Farms Ice Cream. For those who can’t attend, Mass will be live streamed.
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE HAITI OUTREACH MISSION: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 We are pleased to announce that the fundraiser is taking a different shape this year. We have booked a dinner cruise on the beautiful Detroit River on the lovely Diamond Queen. The cruise will depart from the dock at Strohs River Place promptly at 6:30 PM. A generous donor has graciously offered to pay for the usual $5 per car to park! Tickets, which include a 2 ½ hour river cruise, a full buffet dinner, beverages and dessert will be sold for $75 beginning the end of July. There will be a cash bar for adult beverages.
There are only 90 tickets available and must be paid in full by September 8. We hope that you will plan on attending this important event. If you can’t attend, donations to the Haiti Outreach Mission are always gratefully accepted. The need is always there, now with effects of Covid 19, the recent assassination of Haiti’s President and summer storms, more than ever!
10. Time to Come Back to Church for Mass In-Person?
Now that things have gotten so much safer you might feel OK about attending Mass in-person. We have created more room by deleting the cords that blocked off half the pews. We continue to use the air purifiers. The choirs are growing back in size. We are walking up the aisles to receive Communion. You will get a smiling welcome as you enter the church. Sound familiar? Sound like the good old days?
YOU! Yes, YOU, are more and more welcome to Corpus Christi.
Come, rest in the presence of the Lord!
Opportunity knocks…prayerfully consider YOUR options.
