1. “Great” Gathering #3 of our Family of Parishes! Last Friday evening, members of the six parishes in our Family gathered at St. Scholastica to meet and greet, and especially to hear witness talks from our Family members. A two-hour video is already available on our parish website. You can view the whole video or click on the time-line to view any portion you care to see. When you click on the button below you will go to our CC website page for the FOP. Page down to the lower right to click on the button for “Gathering 3 -- July 16”. AND, yes, a lot of parish members wore our Corpus Christi red T-shirts to the event … THANKS!
2. Job Descriptions for 6 Directors in our Family Over the next few months, our Family of Parishes will be creating 6 new positions that will support the key efforts of each parish in our Family. Fr. Patrick has written articles about these six positions. Please visit our website where you will find these job descriptions and other information on the FOP. The two articles about these positions are under: “June 27 Update” and “July 11 Update”.
3. FOP on the Corpus Christi Parish Website: NEW: Q & A Corpus Christi has created a new page for the parish website, a page devoted to the FOP efforts, plans, links, etc.! A sample of what is there already includes:

Take 15 minutes each day this week to sit with Jesus and talk with Him about the love of His Sacred Heart and how your heart can be more filled with the love of His heart.
There will be special graces you encounter this week as you keep this conversation going with Jesus all week. He likes to speak with us and also demonstrate, through life experiences, what He is teaching.
5. No Recording of this Week’s 11:00 Mass!
Yes, it was NOT your computer that caused the problem in the attempts to broadcast Sunday’s usual “livestream Mass”.
The church and rectory had “internet” problems due to the storms earlier in the week. We thought they had all been rectified but somehow there were still some problems with the internet and the broadcast equipment. It is all being worked upon and the hopes are that next Sunday we will again be able to broadcast and save the Mass data on the website. Sorry again!
6. “Considering Catholicism?”
9:30am, Sundays,
in the Rainbow Room.
How about that? Do you possibly know someone wondering about their faith life and looking for a church? Maybe they went to church in their youth. Maybe they had no faith life. Maybe they are searching. Maybe they are simply not happy with where they are in their life. Our Lord could be the one who can satisfy their needs, their longings, their cares. Yes, maybe they are considering about where to go and how to get there.
On July 18th we started our annual efforts to answer the questions of people like that, people who are “inquiring”, people who might be “considering Catholicism”. Please give some “prayerful discernment” to your possibly inviting a family member, a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor to our sessions that will be about one hour per week. There will be time for group sessions and for individual, personal meetings. Sessions are being led by Jeff Smale and Dcn Paul. Questions? Feel free to give Dcn Paul
7. WEEEEE’RE BAAAAACK!!!!!! August & September Events It’s been a very long time, but we’re beyond pleased to say that events are back at Corpus Christi. It will be a blessing to share prayer, food and fellowship with one another again. Please save the following dates:
PARISH CELEBRATION: SUNDAY, AUGUST 22 The day will begin with an 11 AM Outdoor Mass under a spacious tent (no 9 AM Mass that day) celebrating Fr. Don’s, now, 51st Anniversary of Holy Ordination. Please bring your own lawn chairs and, if you can, put an extra one in the trunk to share. Mass will be followed by an Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social featuring delicious Guernsey Farms Ice Cream. For those who can’t attend, Mass will be live streamed.
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE HAITI OUTREACH MISSION: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 We are pleased to announce that the fundraiser is taking a different shape this year. We have booked a dinner cruise on the beautiful Detroit River on the lovely Diamond Queen. The cruise will depart from the dock at Strohs River Place promptly at 6:30 PM. A generous donor has graciously offered to pay for the usual $5 per car to park! Tickets, which include a 2 ½ hour river cruise, a full buffet dinner, beverages and dessert will be sold for $75 beginning the end of July. There will be a cash bar for adult beverages. There are only 90 tickets available and must be paid in full by September 8. We hope that you will plan on attending this important event. If you can’t attend, donations to the Haiti Outreach Mission are always gratefully accepted. The need is always there, now with effects of Covid 19, the recent assassination of Haiti’s President and summer storms, more than ever!
8. Time to Come Back to Church for Mass In-Person?
Now that things have gotten so much safer you might feel OK about attending Mass in-person. We have created more room by deleting the cords that blocked off half the pews. We continue to use the air purifiers. The choirs are growing back in size. We are walking up the aisles to receive Communion. You will get a smiling welcome as you enter the church. Sound familiar? Sound like the good old days?
YOU! Yes, YOU, are more and more welcome to Corpus Christi.
Come, rest in the presence of the Lord!
Opportunity knocks…prayerfully consider YOUR options.
