Alleluia, Arise! Connect with Jesus! His Resurrection is Ours!
A. Today’s Special Items
1. Seeking Your Prayers for “Families of Parishes”! The Archdiocese of Detroit’s program of “Families of Parishes” will start on July 1st, less than two months from now! The Archdiocese and our Corpus Christi Parish are seeking your prayers for the successful implementation and operation of the program and for all the benefits we hope to receive from it. One suggestion for prayer is a novena preceding the Feast of Pentecost, May 23rd. The novena will start on Friday, May 14th and will be prayed each day from then until Pentecost. Click on the button below for the novena prayers.
Please join in on the Holy Spirit Novena or choose another prayer of your liking. We at Corpus Christi will truly appreciate your prayers and the blessings that will result from them! Thanks already!
2. Fr. Patrick’s Special Edition Easter Season Holy Homework Memorize and declare Luke 4:18-19, the mission statement of Jesus -- which is ours as well!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
Memorize it, declare it, and ask the Lord for the grace to live it like never before!
3. Love 65 years ago, when I was a high school freshman at St. Ignatius HS in Chicago, our Latin teacher was the elderly Fr. Whitehead, SJ. Early in that first semester he often mentioned: “Repetitio est mater studiorum.” … “Repetition is the mother of learning.”
Yesterday’s 2nd Reading and Gospel (1 John 4:7-10 and John 15:9-17) are overloaded with that message! Yes, between those two Scriptures the word “love” is used 18 times. Jesus and his disciples did not go to a Jesuit high school but Jesus and the disciples certainly knew the value of repetition! How about taking a few minutes to take another look at those two readings and soak in the impact of Jesus’ love in YOUR life? Dcn Paul.
4. Kick-off time: Saturday, May 15th, 10:00am – Pre-game 9:45!! The game? Well, not really a game but a team effort! Corpus Christi will begin Visiting Our Neighbors and Storefront Evangelization this Saturday. This year we are going to expand our efforts to both Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30pm and Saturday mornings, 10:00 – noon. Teams of two or three will be visiting our neighbors just west of Lahser while other teams will be greeting customers outside one or two grocery stores.
Curious? Interested? Questions? Jesus whispering in your ear? Feel free to contact one of our Evangelization core team members: Paul Moore, Sr. Ellen Schmitz, Jeff Small, Fr. Patrick or me (Dcn Paul) 248.891.9387. Pre-game? Yes, we pray before we take action!
