This weekend parishes across the United States celebrate Catechetical Sunday. Catechists who form children, youth, and adults in the Catholic Faith will be recognized and blessed in their ministry.
Corpus Christi is especially grateful for our catechists who teach about and witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our gratitude extends to our parents, grandparents, godparents, and other adults who by word and example hand on the faith to the next generations.
May God bless all who pass on to others what they have received from the Lord!

3. National Day of Prayer and Fasting, Thursday, Sept. 24th Fr. John Riccardo and the apostolate ACTS XXIX are calling for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on September 24, 2020. “This is not about politics or any particular social movement or even the November election,” Fr. Riccardo cautions. “This is about asking for God’s mercy on our nation and for the healing of our hearts — all of our hearts, starting with mine.” His hope is that the entire country, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all people of good will, would set September 24 aside as a true holy day, forego food until dinner, and pray for the conversion of hearts.
Corpus Christi will start the all-day event with 8:30am Mass and end it (breaking the fast) with 6pm Mass. Throughout the day, there will be morning prayer, midday prayer/Angelus, rosary, chaplet of divine mercy, and praise & worship (led by none other than Fr. Patrick). The church will remain open all day for drop-in prayer. Music will be playing and portions of the day will be livestreamed.
Fasting? Fasting is an ancient Biblical tradition of not eating food or eating much less food than usual. Why? A usual reason for fasting is to show the Lord that we are sorry for our sins and trying to sin less, sin no more. Also, fasting gets our own attention that we are working for and praying for some good intention, for others in need, for some special cause.
