I pray this note finds you well, staying safe and radiating the love of Jesus who continues to walk with us in these challenging times. Today I'd like to share with you a note about adjusting our mass schedule for Sundays. Beginning on the weekend of August 8th & 9th we will be having one Sunday Mass at 11am.
At this time, our numbers are very low for weekend masses, which is completely understandable as we want people to be safe and make the choice that is best for them in regards to their comfort level in navigating these pandemic days as we await a vaccine (and God willing other medical breakthroughs) for COVID-19.
Many of our weekend volunteers cover both of the Sunday masses currently and at this time, for at least a month, we'll shift to having one 11:00am Sunday Mass, which will also be live-streamed. We have excellent safety protocol in place and are doing really well at making the mass experience as safe as possible. If you would like to attend a 4:00pm Saturday Mass or 11:00am Sunday Mass please visit our website to RSVP.
We will also continue to offer two daily masses on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. These masses are short daily masses (about 1/2 hour) and no RSVP is needed. We average about 10-12 people for the 8:30am masses (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday) and about 5-10 people for the other daily masses (12:15pm on Monday & Friday & 6:00pm on Tuesday & Thursday). They are short and sweet masses with few people spaced out in the big Church and can quench one's hunger for the Eucharist.
Brothers and sisters, please know of my prayers for you and of my support of your decision to do what you need to do to be (and to feel!) safe. We're still Corpus Christi and we're still loving and worshiping the Lord, just not in the same building each weekend. I, like you, GREATLY look forward to a major breakthrough over COVID-19 that will allow congregational worship to become a regular part of our lives again.
One thing is for sure, God is with us. Let us continue to pray for God's healing love to flow over the face of this earth.
Love & Blessings!
Fr. Patrick
2. I Witness Several years ago, here at Corpus Christi, we invited our members to share some of their experiences of the Lord working in their lives. One time we called it “God Sightings” and another time we called it “I Witness”. It was a joy to see and hear about the experiences. We would like to invite YOU to consider telling us of your experiences with the Lord. Here are the questions we used previously:
Did you have an experience of God recently? How so?
Did God use someone to bless you recently? (Whether they knew it or not!) In what way?
Were you able to be a blessing to someone else this week? In what way?
When we did this last time, we put the questions on a half a sheet of paper. We did not expect lengthy answers … just little short stories. This time you can just send us an email. If you would like to see the past stories you can visit our Corpus Christi website by clicking on the red buttons below. If you would like to tell us of your recent story simply email it to the Evangelization Committee care of: [email protected]. Thanks already! And, yes, we would like you to include your name … but it is optional!
3. Rep. John Lewis – RIP Representative John Lewis has been a peace-loving, civil rights leader for decades. We join people from around the nation in saluting his non-violent efforts for bringing justice to people of all colors and in all locations. May he truly Rest In Peace!
4. This Weekend’s Masses – 9:00am Mass will be livestreamed: Our Masses are: Saturday, 4pm; Sunday 9am and noon. The livestreaming of this weekend’s Mass will again be 9:00am Sunday morning. Click on the button below for viewing the Mass. [Videos of Masses from prior weekends are also available at this site]
If you have not registered (by noon on Saturday) to attend Mass in person and you still wish to attend a Mass at church this weekend please: - park in the parking lot a little ahead of Mass time, - go to the parking lot side entrance, - and ask the staff at that doorway if there is still available room. If there is room in church they will do a check-in process for you. Based on the slightly relaxed directions from AOD there is now more space available in the church to attend Mass in person.
5. St. Ignatius of Loyola – July 31st memorial Tomorrow the Church around the world will celebrate the memorial of the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola. St. Ignatius’s legacy is most notable in (1) all the high schools and universities that continue Jesuit Catholic education, (2) hundreds of years of missionary work around the globe, and (3) modern media that continues evangelizing people here in our point of time.
