This weekend we celebrate Fathers’ Day, honoring our fathers living and deceased. We thank God for our fathers and all those men who have been living examples of God’s unconditional love, giving and sharing life and the blessings of fatherhood with us. God, our Father, when he sent Jesus his Son to earth, entrusted Jesus to the care of his foster father, Joseph. Joseph is the righteous one who is such a good example of one who listens to God, willingly trusts God and takes risks, protects his family, cares for them, leads them to safety and with Mary creates a family for Jesus. Today let us pray especially to St. Joseph for our fathers and all men that Joseph will intercede with God and grant them all their needs as they follow Joseph’s lead in caring for others.
This spring some of our young people have received the sacrament of Eucharist for the first time and last Sunday others received the Holy Spirit in Confirmation, thus completing their Christian initiation. Now as more mature Christians we can look to them to be more active in our parish. Don’t hesitate to ask our young people to help you when you are participating in parish activities.
Soon we will begin registration for First Eucharist and Confirmation classes for those who qualify and are willing to grow in their love of Christ. Registration forms are found in the back of church and in the parish office.
A Haitian Request: Fr. Leveque Bien-Aime, pastor at St. Louis parish in Haiti hopes to initiate a music program for the students in the parish school. He is in need of musical instruments. If you have an instrument that you are no longer using and would like to donate, please contact Sr. Therese. Thank you.
