1. Family of Parishes—Our 1st Family Gatherings!—CHANGED TIMES!
To help us and other parishes transition to a Family of Parishes on July 1st, the Archdiocese is facilitating gatherings for the parishes in their new families. These gatherings will be virtual and everyone is invited. There are three dates for our family’s gatherings: Fridays, May 21st, June 18th and July 16th. The gatherings will be at 7pm (it had been 5pm!) and you can register to attend (virtually) here: https://www.familiesofparishes.org/gatherings/
See the AOD flier below:
2. Holy Homework from Dcn Paul How about this for some Holy Homework for this week? How about we start making a list? Think back to the Scriptures we hear each Sunday or which we read all alone. See how well our memories can recall other Gospel stories of Jesus eating with groups of people or feeding groups of people. If our list of Gospel stories is pretty short, how about taking some time to scan through the Gospels to find those dining stories?
Oh, and here is an additional Holy Homework idea! As we sit down to eat, welcome the Lord Jesus there in our midst. Then, as we enjoy the meal, how about we make a smiling grin as we thank the Lord; thank the Lord for connecting meals with our recalling how much the Lord has blessed us in the past and continues to bless us today.
Now, this a little pushy, but how about we also give the Lord some brief time when we enjoy a snack?
Blessings on each of us as we recall the Lord whenever we eat!
3. GOF – Why do I Need the Church?
Renew Reflect Respond
Generations of Faith 2020/21 Why Do I Need the Church?
Watch the video,Why Do I Need the Church?, to learn about the ONE church Jesus began, the TWO dimensions of the church, the THREE aspects of unity in the Church, and the FOUR marks or characteristics of the Church. At the end of the video, don’t miss the panel discussion of Corpus Christi parishioners (Kate, Denise G, Elaine, Curtis, and Katrina) reflecting on their experiences of being the Body of Christ plus thoughts on why the Church is essential.
Respond: what is a quality or characteristic of our Church, Corpus Christi Parish, that stands out to you? Email your word to [email protected]. Your words will become part of a “word cloud” to be published in early May.

4. New “I Witness” story on website At the Easter Vigil three years ago Dionne Garner completed her RCIA formation and joined us here in our Catholic community. She continues in her growth of connecting with and talking to the Lord. She has described some of that journey in an “I Witness” story, stories that we post on our website. Click the button to go to her witness story.
5. Family of Parishes – Learn More about Families of Parishes
The Archdiocese of Detroit is offering more insights into the Family of Parishes efforts with a variety of media choices… articles, videos, and courses. Here are five of those options – each a separate link:
The third item, the course, is well endorsed by our Carolyn Wilson.
It has one short introductory video followed by four others each about 30 minutes in length
6. Check to See if God is Asking YOU to … Have you felt … have you heard … the Lord possibly hinting to you that it is time to try to be just a little more bold? Here are three suggestions on how you could do some of that with fellow Corpus Christi members.
1. You could join those who are Visiting Our Neighbors (VON) … this year it will be the neighborhood west of Lahser.
2. You could join those who stand outside one of the neighborhood grocery stores and offer prayers to those coming to the store and those leaving the store. (Store Front Evangelization … SFE)
3. You could join others praying for those two ministries by staying in church in prayer.
This year we are planning these ministries for Tuesday evenings (6:30 – 8:30pm) and Saturday mornings (10:00 am to noon). Questions? Wanting to join the efforts? Please send a return email with your contact information!
7. Get rid of Those old Leftover Drugs! Saturday, April 24th, is DEA National Drug Take Back Day. Turn in your unused or expired prescription and over the counter meds for safe disposal. Contact your local Police station for drop off information. The 8th Precinct in zip code 48219 is probably closest to church.
8. You are Invited, You are Welcome, You’ll be Safe! Please join us in person at Mass. We’re so happy to welcome you back! We’re being diligent about keeping you safe by following our Covid-19 protocols which include:
Things the church is doing:
Running our six (6) medical-grade air purifying units in the church before and during mass thus removing bacteria and viruses, including the Covid virus, from the air.
Providing hand sanitizer throughout the church for your use, as needed
Taking your temperature as you come into the church. (Please do NOT come to mass if you are feeling ill or running a temperature.)
Bringing Holy Communiontoyour pew (Fr. Patrick, a Deacon or an EME comes to you).
Things we ask you to do:
Wearing a mask at all times over your nose and under your chin (everyone two and older).
Maintaining a 6-foot physical distance between you/members of your household, and others not in your household, both in the pews and in other seating areas, before and after mass.
***** Oh! How about you inviting a member of your family or a friend to join us here as well?!?!
