For those of you who enjoy and count on watching our livestreamed 11 am mass, I want to provide an update as I know you have been unable to watch for the past four Sundays. First, please know that Corpus Christi plans to continue to livestream even though the mass dispensation has lifted, as we know that some of you are unable or not yet comfortable attending in person. This technology allowed us to remain together throughout this past year at the height of the pandemic and we will continue to use it. The challenges with the livestream began the week after the June 28 storm that took out several of our internet and WiFi pieces of equipment and which took just over a week to completely replace and resolve. The last few pieces were replaced Tuesday, July 6.
Since then, we have had issues with both the livestream and audio portions, as you are aware. We have methodically checked several components that support the livestream and audio. Some of these include: assuring that the livestream computer is connected directly to internet, that we are getting the speed needed to run a livestream, the company that installed the big screen and cameras performed a complete check and said that everything is working as expected, and we have adjusted some software settings that provide audio. All were working during a brief test livestream at the 4 pm mass yesterday.
This morning, we were able to get the livestream working, but did not have sound. John Stockwell and Joe Long tried to resolve this in the 30 minutes before mass, but were unsuccessful. We believe this may be the result of a computer update that occurred overnight. I have contacted our IT vendor and will be working with them this week, along with Joe and John, to resolve the issue and perform additional testing.
I apologize for the length of this email, but wanted to give you some details and let you know that several people have been, and will continue to actively work on resolving any livestream issues so that we can once again livestream our 11 am mass.
Should you have questions, please feel free to send me an email ([email protected]) or call me (313-244-0677).
Thank you for your understanding and enjoy this week.
Blessings- Carolyn
