Take an hour with Jesus this week to sit, talk and prepare for Lent. Think about prayer, fasting and almsgiving and talk with Jesus about how He is inviting you into these sacred biblical practices in this Lenten season. Ask Him to help you understand why He invites you into these practices. It’s in relationship with Him, the Lenten journey is best traveled. Finally, craft a Lenten plan from your Lenten conversation with Jesus.

Emmaus Faith Sharing Groups during Lent
Everyone is invited to participate in our Lenten Emmaus Faith Sharing Groups. The groups will begin the week of February 28. Groups meet on various days and at different times during the day, via zoom or in-person. Our theme this year is Living theEucharist. The weekly topics are:
I Give You My Word
The Art of Listening
Affirming What We Believe
Joyful Home-Coming!
Be Reconciled with God
The Eucharist: Pathway to a Holy and Virtuous Life
To join a group, you may register in the back of church. You can also sign up by going to the parish website (button below) and then clicking on the button labelled “Emmaus Groups Sign Up”.
Beginning the first Sunday of Lent we will resume the Liturgy of the Word with Children at the 11:00 Mass. We need volunteers to help with this ministry. If you want to share your faith with children in this ministry, contact Sr. Therese at [email protected].
How Goes the Tally?
How have things been going with you lately? Have you offered someone one of those new Corpus Christi “business cards” as part of our parish “Everyone Invites” Thematic Goal? Here’s what the cards look like (two sides/one card!) … and there are more cards that can be picked up at the back of church! This coming weekend the parish will be asking “How’s it going?” and “Please let us know how many cards you have given to others.”
Generations of Faith: Encounter Jesus
Last Sunday over 50 adults, 9 teens, and 12 children gathered after the 11 am Mass to Encounter Jesus! The adults heard Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ, speak about God’s Call for us to forgive and our challenge to live this call. He spoke about what forgiveness is NOT; what forgiveness IS; and three steps in a process of Christians forgiving.
If you attended, click the button below to give us feedback on your evaluation of the day’s program.
If you did not attend (or you want to hear it again), you can see the entire presentation through the Corpus Christi website. Click on the button below for links to Fr. Bernie’s talk, his handout, and the closing video prayer. Children and teen home activities and videos can also be found through the button below.
The Companions of the Cross seminarians are hosting an Online School of Evangelization on March 19, from 9am – 4pm EST. It’s open to anyone who wants to be empowered on how to share their Christian faith with others. The talks will teach you what the Gospel is and give you effective ways to share it, with some practical workshops worked in – like how to share your testimony, share the basic Gospel in a conversation, and pray for people – so that you can practice right there with us.
The whole day is spent fostering an openness to the Holy Spirit, the principal agent of evangelization, who is able to make all this happen. You will leave with a new awareness of the urgency of evangelization and be equipped to actually carry it out within your spheres of influence! It’s all online (using Zoom) so you can tune in from any where or get together with a group to watch it as a “watch-party” (and do some of the workshops together in-person). To register click on the button below.
In an amazing sync with the Companions of the Cross evangelization training program, the AOD recently released a four-minute video of Fr. Patrick giving a personal testimony from his very own life. Click on the button below to go to that video.
Vickie Figueroa, a very active Corpus Christi member and an employee of the AOD, was treated for medical heart troubles. The AOD recently published an article about Vickie’s story in the Feb. 11th issue of Detroit Catholic. Yes, she was blessed! To view the article, click on the following button.
Our prayer list continues to grow for the deceased, the ill and the homebound. Please visit our parish bulletin for the current list on page 3. … and then raise a prayer for those on the list and your own special intentions. Simply click on the Bulletin button at the end of this email.
