1. VON/SFE – Join and/or Pray! – Tuesday – 6:30pm! Tomorrow, May 25th, we will be gathering in church for our third 2021 session of Visiting Our Neighbors (VON) & Store Front Evangelization (SFE). At 6:00pm we will form our teams, give out materials to be left at homes, and discuss which team will take specific streets to the west of Lahser and north of 7 Mile. The teams will be mixtures of twos or threes. We also will be preparing for a team to stand outside a grocery store to offer prayers for people. At 6:15pm we will pray for the efficacy of the VON and SFE teams. At 6:30pm it is “hit the streets!”
YOU are invited to join us in prayer in church (6:30pm – 8:30pm) orin your place of choice. If it appears that the Lord is tapping YOU on the shoulder to visit homes or storefronts with us, don’t hesitate to come into church by 6pm so we can fit YOU into a team. Questions? Please feel free to contact Dcn Paul at [email protected].
2. Covid-19 Liturgical Guidelines Update for Corpus Christi On Wednesday, May 19th, Archbishop Vigneron issued a letter to the faithful of the Archdiocese with updated information regarding Covid-19 safety protocols. In this communication, the Archbishop entrusted to pastors a set of considerations which each pastor is to use to determine how best to implement for their parish. For our parish, Fr. Patrick, with the support of the Leadership Team has implemented the following:
- Those who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear a mask or social distance, though they may continue to do so.
- Those who are not vaccinated are asked to please continue wearing a mask and social distancing.
- A separate section in the church has been designated for those who desire to sit in a section that provides them with social distancing (the St. Eugene area of the church).
- Those distributing Holy Communion will continue to wear a mask.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and ongoing charity! It’s a blessing to be here with you!
God bless you,
Fr. Patrick

3. Our 1st Family Gathering & Plans for the 2nd
It was so neat to meet members of the other parishes in our new Family on Friday evening! Some attended in person here at Corpus Christi and some were present virtually on the large video screen up front. We opened the session with Evening Prayer led by Sr. Therese. Connie Borg, an AOD employee and member of St. Scholastica Parish, then led us in a series of Family exercises.
Curtis Simpson, Jr. described our parish to our Family members. That was followed by members of the other five parishes telling us about their parishes. Then we formed small groups of people from different parishes to talk about how we could work as a Family.
A link to a video of our 1st Family Gathering is forthcoming!
Gathering #2 will be on Friday, June 18th and will be held at St. Juan Diego from 7pm to 9pm. It will be both in-person attendance and virtual attendance. The gathering will aim to deepen those new, faith-founded relationships and help us begin to grow together as disciples.
Gathering #3 will be on Friday, July 16th and will encourage our Family members to celebrate together as a Family, receiving the grace that comes with confidently bearing witness to the Gospel. It will also be at 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Get to know the members of the Trinity Vicariate Family #1! Come meet fellow parishioners and journey through the Encounter, Grow, Witness paradigm to discover YOUR role in our Family.

6. CC Campus Spruce-up Opportunity Norman Klawender, Jr. (Our Lady of Sorrows), Vitaliy Koponen (Corpus Christi), and Nate Zerbonia (St. Fabian) have planned a service project as part of the Pope Pius XII Boy Scout Religious Emblem program. The program, designed for high-school Scouts, centers around the life of vocations in the Church, and service and living their lives as model Catholics.
They invite you to join them in sprucing up the Corpus Christi Parish campus. Opportunities both indoors and outdoors may be available. It would be helpful to bring garden tools, including brooms and edgers, gloves for gardening and litter pickup, as well as beverages and snacks for you and your family members. To keep everyone safe, understanding that some of our brothers and sisters may feel less comfortable than us, we will be maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
WHEN: Sunday, May 30, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
WHERE: Meet in the parking lot at Corpus Christi Parish, 19800 Pembroke Ave, Detroit, MI 48219. The parish is located ½ mile south of 8 Mile Road, at the corner of Evergreen and Pembroke.
