3. Parish Member Death NoticeIrene Williford, a longtime member of St Gerard Parish, passed on September 14th at the age of 108 years. There will be a graveside service for her on Monday, October 16th, 10:00 am, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 19975 Woodward, Detroit, Mi 48203.

The Archdiocesan Program for Safe Environments for Children and Vulnerable AdultsPlease see pages 6 and 7 of this week’s Corpus Christi bulletin for an article about the new protocol for the Archdiocese. You can also find the bulletin by clicking on the button below. The Archdiocese is requiring all parish volunteers and employees to become certified or recertified through a Protecting God’s Children Workshop session. Anyone certified through the program after January 1, 2020 does not need to recertify. Deadline is November 1, 2023.

1. Friday Morning Prayer for all Children
We have started prayer sessions in the St. Eugene Chapel in church on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month [6th and 20th of October] from 11:00am to noon. The focus of the prayers will be to first praise God, then pray for our children, grandchildren, and to offer intercessory prayers for children who are victimized by the sinfulness of the world. Mothers and especially grandmothers (or those serving in a maternal capacity) are welcomed to join in storming heaven on behalf of their offspring.
2. Praying the Rosary
October is the month of the rosary. You are invited to pray the rosary together on Sundays at 10:30 a.m., in the St. Eugene Chapel in church.
This time was chosen so that people from the 9:00 a.m. Mass can stay a few extra minutes and those going to the 11:00 can come a few minutes early.
3. Coffee and Donuts
There will be Coffee and Donuts this Sunday, October 15th, after the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses.
4. Need a Ride to Church for a Mass on Sunday?
Call the Parish Office at 313-537-5770 by noon on Thursday to request a ride! Bus rides are only for the 11:00 Sunday Masses on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
Looking Further Ahead!
Hotdog Tuesdays!
On Tuesdays, when schools are in session, we are offering students hotdogs on their way home from school and taking that opportunity to evangelize them in the love of Jesus. Students are from Henry Ford High School and from the New Saint Paul school (in our Corpus Christi school building). Cooking and other prep is from 2 to 3 pm. Students come by from 3:00 to 3:45 pm. Care to join us/help us with hotdogs and evangelization?

**An excerpt from The Chosen for the ADULTS. Get ready to view the Miracle of the Loaves and Fish as Jesus and his apostles feed 5000!
Plus, a look at Jesus’s actions and teaching in Scripture about the Eucharist celebrated and received. The Liturgy of the Word of God flows into the Liturgy of the Eucharist as one action.
** A new caterer who guarantees 4 serving lines to help decrease the wait time for eating! (Hurray!)
**The Primary students, grades 1-3, will meet in the Activities Center, not in Room 4.
Young People will continue their focus on the Eucharist Celebrated: the Mass. This month on the Scripture (Liturgy of the Word) where we listen and respond. They too will study “Jesus Feeding a Huge Crowd”.
Schedule:
12:30 – 1:40 pm In person/video presentations, discussion, and reflection in age groups
1:50 – 3:00 Lunch in the gym (or you may choose to go home)
Come with your whole household to be enriched and refreshed during this year of the Church’s Eucharistic Revival!

The Eucharist is being exposed on the altar in church on the following schedule:
Tuesdays: 6:00pm – 8:30pm

[Note: Confessions 1:00 pm – 3:45pm]One of the greatest treasures of the Catholic faith is the Eucharist. Ever since the Last Supper, the Catholic Church has believed that the Eucharist is truly the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. You are invited to come and spend time in adoration with Jesus at Corpus Christi as we begin to offer these new time slots for adoration. Ideally, we will have two people in the church before Jesus whenever adoration happens. On our parish website you will see two slots for each time. Please know that if the slot is filled there will still be plenty of room in church for you!
