This Week’s Fr. Patrick Holy Homework
Spend 15 minutes everyday reading the bible (start with Matthew 1 if you are looking for a place to begin!) and ask Jesus for the grace of a new love of Sacred Scripture. When you open the Bible simply pray, “Holy Spirit guide me” and you’re on your way!

The end of the day is great time to spend some time with the Lord, whether it has been a good day, a bad day, or a so-so day. St. Ignatius of Loyola started a practice for doing just that; it is called EXAMEN. It simply asks us to consider four questions:
- What happened today for which we are thankful? - What other things happened today that got our attention? - Which of these should we discuss with the Lord … now? - What things are really important for doing tomorrow?
There’s a blank form for making notes on this every day of the month. Click on the button below to see this on our parish website.
Last Sunday, despite the snow, about 30 adults, 11 teens, and 8 children gathered after the 11 am Mass to Encounter Jesus! The adults saw an excerpt from The Chosen and reflected on that experience. We were caught up in the emotion of the apostles as they shouted in amazement over the large catch of fish while Jesus watched smiling as they struggled to get all the fish in the boat. Simon Peter’s conversion also touched our hearts.
Snow can’t stop you from seeing this excerpt in the warmth of your home. You’ll also find an introduction with Sr. Therese and Rita Pridgen, a handout with reflection questions, and a closing prayer. All you need is a warm drink and your electronic device for this Encounter.
